What is Country Blocking?
Country blocking is an effective way to stop an attack, content theft or other malicious activity that originates from a geographic region.
Why do we use Country Blocking?
Obviously, when you are the owner of a website, you’d want to allow visitors from all over the world to access your website. However, it’s a sad fact that the majority of malicious web traffic to US sites originates from the same handful of foreign countries. Spammers and hackers are in control of collections of compromised computers and launch operations from these countries. If your site doesn’t benefit from actual users living in those countries, it is beneficial to country block to ensure better response times to your actual client base.
What is our policy on Country Blocking?
All websites on our platform must adhere to any and all higher security measures we implement, such as country blocking, to remain compliant with both HIPAA and PCI policy needs of our datacenters.
What is the US law on country blocking?
The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services state entities must implement reasonable and appropriate technical safeguards to address such threats where there are documented increased attempts at hacking or other malware attacks.
