If you visit or reference a web page on the Internet a lot, then you could either add the web page to your Favorites/Bookmarks or use a desktop shortcut.
Internet Explorer:
- Open the web page in your browser
- Left click the File drop down menu item in the top of the browser.
- Left click Send (a list will slide out for further options)
- Left click on Shortcut to Desktop
- A pop-up window will confirm this action "Do you want to put a shortcut to this website on your desktop?"
- Left click on YES
- This action creates the shortcut on your desktop.
Look on your desktop. There should be a new icon that resembles your browser icon for the web page you just created the shortcut for.
Mozilla Firefox:
- Open the web page in your browser
- Resize the Firefox window so you can see both your computer's desktop and the Firefox window on the same screen.
- Click the icon on the left of the address bar (where the URL is shown).
- While still holding the mouse button down, move the pointer to the desktop, then release the mouse button. The shortcut will be created.
Google Chrome
- Open the web page in your browser
- Click the Chrome menu
on the browser toolbar.
- Select Tools.
- Select Create application shortcuts.
- In the dialog that appears, choose where you'd like the shortcuts to be placed on your computer.
- Click Create.
Safari on PC or MAC
- Open the web page in your browser
- Resize the Safari window so you can see both your computer's desktop and the Safari window on the same screen.
- Click the icon on the left of the address bar (where the URL is shown).
- While still holding the mouse button down, move the pointer to the desktop, then release the mouse button. The shortcut will be created.
Safari on iPad
- Launch Safari: Open the web page in your browser
- Tap the icon featuring a right-pointing arrow coming out of a box along the top of the Safari window to open a drop-down menu.
- Select "Add to Home Screen" icon option
- Select "Add" option in right hand upper corner of window
- Now you will see a icon placed on your iPad as seen below:
