In this section, we will go over the following:
WIFI STRENGTH ISSUES
PBHS Support can determine the WiFi Signal Strength from your device:
dBm represents signal strength in decibels (dB) with reference to one milliwatt (mW)
- Anything from -30dBm to -50dBm is considered as Great to Good
- Anything from -60bBm to -90dBm is considered Good to Bad
If we determine that your WiFi strength is not sufficient for streaming videos, we may recommend the following:
The distance is too great between the Silent Partner TV Device and your Office Router.
If we see any WiFi Signal Strength above -60dBm, we will suggest that you move your device closer to the router.
Is the Silent Partner TV device connected to the TV screen hidden behind the screen?
If so, that could be one of the reasons for a poor WiFi signal. TVs have a lot of RF shielding in them and will likely block WiFi signals going to the attached device.
Please try to use the HDMI extension cable included with your device to position the Chromebit away from the back of the TV.
Let PBHS know when this is in place, and we can re-review your WiFi Signal Strength.
WIFI SPEED TEST
We may ask you to perform a Speed Test against your WiFi: https://fast.com
